Coffee Talk Tip: Brewing the Perfect Cup
This month, we’re diving into the art of the pour-over, a method that allows the true character of our coffee to shine. Whether you’re overlooking the Cowlitz River or cozying up indoors while the rain taps gently against the window, here’s how to perfect your pour:
- Heat your water to just off the boil (about 205°F).
- Position your pour-over cone (lined with a filter) atop your favorite mug.
- Add your ground coffee—medium grind is best.
- Gently pour the hot water over the grounds in a circular motion, pausing after the initial “bloom” for 30 seconds, then continue pouring.
- Sit back and savor the rich, nuanced flavors.
