Meet the Master Roaster

Eddie B is an industry-recognized expert coffee roaster whose successful career has spanned two decades, three states, and six roasting companies. He is a licensed Q grader and cupping judge who has been a board member of the Oregon Coffee Board, Kona Coffee Council, and the Hawaii Coffee Association. He has also participated in several high-profile coffee competitions both behind the scenes as a judge and as a presenter giving talks on Roasting, cupping, and best farming practices. Having become interested in the coffee business after a trip to the highlands of Papua New Guinea, he started his journey with Portland Coffee Roasters. He apprenticed under their roastmaster and learned the craft of roasting and cupping coffee. From there, his journey took him to Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, where he spent five years immersed in coffee from seed to cup. After returning to the Pacific Northwest, he became involved in the Portland coffee scene and served as a board member for the Oregon coffee board, working to shape the future of the coffee industry. He most recently partnered with Red Leaf Coffee to create a roasting company from scratch that now provides coffee to all of their cafes. His extensive knowledge and experience have led him to open Rivers Bend Coffee Roasters. As a third generation, born and raised local, whose family has been in local business, he couldn’t think of a better place to start his roasting company.
